There is no doubt in my mind that you have or will be faced with
criticism along your journey to building your home based business.
It happens all of the time even to expert network marketers.
So you have 3 Choices when confronted with criticism:
- Let it get under your skin, pout and become paralyzed with fear of moving on.. Which can eventually destroy your journey to reach your success goals.
- Retaliate and give that person a dose of their own venom. AKA “a piece of your mind”.
- Be grateful… Yes, have an attitude of gratitude. I will explain in a moment.
I know how it feels I have been there. I had to change how I chose to receive the critic’s dart. I certainly can not say that I look forward to it, but I can dissect the criticism and find at least one gold nugget to propel me to become better.

Steps to Overcoming Criticism:
- Evaluate the source from which the criticism is coming from.
- Consider the tone in which it is given. Is this person genuinely trying to bring something to your attention that you may have overlooked or is he/she trying to hurt you?
- Use a fine-toothed comb to search for some validity in what was said.
- If you find some truth in it. Simply accept it.
- If you honestly cannot find any truth in it at all, before you put that critic on the “Jerk” list, ask a friend not to be bias on your behave and give you their honest evaluation of the criticism which was directed at you. Now if you both agree that the criticism was inaccurate then go ahead and trash the statement. You should have a clear conscious at this point. Don’t exert any more energy or emotions on it. Unlike the critic, you have better things to do with your time.
- However if you find even a tiny bit of truth in it. Then that is okay….. Use the information to become a better you. Decide what you can do to make that statement invalid going forward. You might have to refine some skills, work on personal development or attitude..
- Lastly, reach out and thank your critic for helping you to blossom….
They may have meant it to harm you but you have the power to turn it around for good.
Use that power and continue to attain your dreams.
That power is gratitude.
